Hypothesis Testing Articles
September 14, 2009
Scholars,
I have made a number of readings available to you. You really need to bone up on hypothesis testing and thinking about design. It is key to your success.
You can find most of the content here.
For the presentation lab I will be putting you into groups (assigned by last name under each reading). I will ask each group to:
- Present one of the articles, take about 5-10 minutes. Teach us about hypothesis testing. How was it presented? Share examples and metaphors. Lead us to understanding!
- Additionally, I want each group to design a study. I want you to work with the class to get us to define the Null and Alternative hypotheses. Then I want you to provide us with some data that we can interpret from the context of your problem by using the t-distribution. We all need more practice in decision making an conclusion writing. Don’t worry about providing raw data, giving us what we need to calculate t will be just fine an faster.
- And since we are all reading these papers you need to provide the class an opportunity to ask questions and discuss differences between the readings.
There will be a little time in class on Monday & Tuesday to exchange contact info so that you can prep for the presentations.
